It's More Than A Chair. It's AC Outside!

It's hot outside and it's only getting hotter. We designed Cold Okole so you can keep doing what you love doing outside - whether thats tailgating, watching your kids soccer game, or just hanging out.

Cold Okole is the first active cooling chair with  embedded lightweight cooling tubes that keep your back and butt cool while you sit in it. The cooling technology was originally developed for NASA and the U.S. Military to keep humans cool in extreme environments, and was adopted to keep you at a cool, comfortable temperature.

The chair's built-in cooling system uses something you have sitting in the drink cooler right next to you - ICE. Simply fill up the chair's drink cooler with ice like you'd normally do, and flip the switch to make your chair ice cold. It's that simple.

We set out to build the ultimate outdoor chair to keep you enjoying the outdoors even when it's hot outside. We included the features you need the most and built it out of the best materials we could find so you can #ACOUTSIDE without compromise.

How Cold Okole Works

Cold Okole is designed to keep you cool in even the most extreme heat. It circulates ice cold water through 45 ft of thermally-conductive ThermoCore® tubing that gently hugs your back and butt. ThermoCore® is our proprietary nano-material polymer tubing that was developed for the U.S. Military and has superior thermal conductivity, improved circulation efficiency, and is optimized to keep you at a comfortable temperature.

Cold Okole delivers a 300% increase in body heat extraction compared with other cooling technologies enabling you to be outside, even under extreme heat.

Easy to Use

Cold Okole uses ice water from the built in drink cooler to deliver intense cooling for 8+ hours. Simply drop ice into the cooler and turn it on to start cooling down. Use the dial to adjust the cooling intensity (like the AC in your car). Easily recharge by adding more ice.

The Story Of 19 Degrees North

We are team of engineers and designers in Honolulu, Hawaii. The word "Okole" literally translates to "butt" or "ass" in the Hawaiian language. 19 North wasn't an idea born overnight, it evolved organically over 10 years of design & testing. Read the story of how the 19 North team went from an idea to a real tangible product enjoyed by thousands at tailgates and campouts across the country. Get the full story.

ThermoCore® technology was originally developed in partnership with the U.S. Army for use in desert environments and the U.S. Navy for shipyard welders working in dangerously hot conditions. When looking at the science of cooling the human body, liquid cooling is the most effective method of heat extraction and leverages the same biomechanics of how the body naturally cools itself. NASA, one of the early pioneers of liquid cooling technology, integrated it into astronaut space suits to manage body temperature in space.

Things Are Heating Up

Every year thousands of people die from heat exposure. As our climate warms, unexpected heat waves are becoming the new norm.

  • This July, an unexpected heat wave hit Europe and caused over 2,000 heat related deaths in Spain and Portugal over just one week.
  • The UK declared a "state of emergency" on July 19th when temperatures hit 40.3 C (104.5 F), the highest UK temperature ever on record.
  • According to a recent study, an estimated 20,000 people die each year in North America from hot weather.

Don't let this be you or your loved ones!

How Heat Kills

The human body is very delicate and functions within a narrow temperature range. Extreme heat stresses every organ in the human body as it struggles to control its core temperature. The heart plays a crucial role in this, as it helps pump blood away from the central parts of the body to the skin.

For people with pre-existing heart disease or conditions like high blood pressure and diabetes, the extra strain placed on the heart by extreme heat can lead to heart attacks and strokes. If heat levels continue to increase, the body suffers from multi-organ failure and eventually death. Get more info on the dangers of heat stress here.
